Doh!

Oh, we were having such a wonderful day! I cleaned my house spotless, thanks to information and help from flylady.net. When the kids got home from school, we all went to the park with my BFF and her kids. Jordan brought her friend with her because they are having a sleepover! We were finishing up and getting ready to go, when Jordan went swinging off a rope swing and ripped the skin open at the base of her thumb. At first it just bled a little bit, but then we washed it, and I saw it was about an inch long, through all the skin layers, and very wide and gapping. So, off we ran, with hands clamped around gauze and happy birthday napkins, to the urgent care center. We got there, Jordan's friend stayed with us, Rob met us and took the other kids home. She got 8 sutures in her hand, and a huge bandage to keep her from moving her thumb. This also means that we had to go tell her piano teacher that she would not be attending the piano recital on Wednesday due to injury. It is all duets, so Jordan was really worried about what her partner would say. I feel so bad for her. But, the sleepover made it better, and I think it was good her friend was there while she was getting the stitches, it kept her from freaking out too badly. :)

On a sad note, my last living grandparent, my grandmother is in her last weeks of life. It is unexpected how quickly she has deteriorated. Her husband passed away last October, and here we are six months later watching her go. They were terribly in love for more than sixty years. So, it will be a blessing for her to be with her sweetheart again after death. It is just sad for those of us here, who will miss her. Don't let moments pass to procrastinate the opportunities to tell people you love them.
