My beloved grandmother passed away on Friday. She was 81. While I will miss her and the opportunities for my children to get to know her, I am glad for the end of her suffering. It is peaceful to know she is with my grandfather again, just 6 short months after his passing. She was a wonderfully talented and gentle person.
And life marches on for those of us still here. The weekend was filled with the usual t-ball practice, and a rare weekend soccer game. Jordan did well in soccer, though her team was incomplete and they had to borrow a player. The other team had some really large girls, one of which collided with Jordan and knocked her out for part of a quarter. Jordan was playing very well, and was being aggressive and unbullied by the other team. I was very proud of her for soldiering on! Today Holden had his first t-ball game! It was soooo good! He is so hilarious, his personality just shines out, and we were laughing the entire game! He wore his team shirt, and Skylar's baseball pants which were a little saggy in the behind. Then he was trying to find Sky's soccer cleats to wear, but I ruined all his fun and told him he could just wear his regular shoes. When he had his first at bat, he couldn't find the base and was just running in a circle in front of home, saying "Where is the base! Where is the base!" I about died. When he was playing 2nd base, he and the shortstop were such good sports that they made sure the other team made it to 2nd everytime. They cheered them on and even compared shirts between bats. Towards the end of the game, they were all getting very tired. (They are all about 5yrs old) So if someone didn't get the ball, they cried, and if someone didn't get to hit, they cried, and if the coach told them good job they cried. By the end, both teams had about 1/2 their players in tears, but fortunately the game treats made up for it all! It was totally wild! :D Sky and Jordan got to go golfing after school and begin earning their Jr. Golf points. They did pretty good, but they are getting lessons in a few weeks. I hope that will make my job of counting strokes easier! It was a beautiful day all day, then we got to the course, clouds blew in, the wind picked up, it started to rain, it got really cold, and it was just a fun day golfing!
So, life marches on, and we stop this weekend to pay respect to my dear grandmother, only to have life rear it's ugly head again on Monday without giving time to reflect on our memories of her, or share stories with family members. She was dearly loved by all her children, and cherished above all by her husband. If we could all be so lucky.
